The Palms Hotel and Casino signed an agreement which allows the casino exclusive rights to use the song for a TV commercial and will also be shown online. The debut of the said TV commercial is expected today.
The commercial features lots of the amenities of The Palms Hotel and Casino is famous for including it's Fantasy Suites, Playboy Club, Simon and Palms Place and Rain Nightclub.“We are extraordinarily honored to feature Lady Gaga’s ‘Poker Face’ in our brand new advertising campaign,” Palms Owner George Maloof said in a statement this Monday. “We feel that this is a special and unique opportunity to connect the Palms brand with one of the most respected and talented artists of our time. The commercial is hot.”
Some facts about Lady Gaga:
Playing piano by ear from the age of 4, she went on to write her first piano ballad at 13 and began performing at open mic nights by age 14. At age 17, she gained early admission to the New York University's Tisch School of the Arts.
There, she studied music and improved her songwriting skills by composing essays and analytical papers focusing on topics such as art, religion and socio-political order. She later withdrew from the school to focus on her musical career.
Lady Gaga appeared semi-nude, wearing only plastic bubbles, on the cover of the annual 'Hot 100' issue of Rolling Stone in May 2009. In the issue she discussed that while she was making her beginnings in the New York club scene, Lady Gaga was romantically involved with a heavy metal drummer.
Lady Gaga described their relationship and break-up, saying of it, "I was his Sandy, and he was my Danny [of Grease], and I just broke." He later became an inspiration behind some of the songs on her debut album The Fame. Lady Gaga also stated that she is bisexual and is inspired by beautiful women, which she says makes her boyfriends "uncomfortable."
"I don't like to be seen as somebody who is using the gay community to look edgy. I'm a free sexual woman and I like what I like. I don't want people to write that about me because I feel like it looks like I'm saying it because I'm trying to be edgy or underground." She said later regretted disclosing her orientation.Lady Gaga appeared on the US chat show 'Queen Barbara Walters', admitted that she may have fantasised about women while making love to her ex-boyfriend. “That’s what ‘Poker Face’ was all about… Why, when I was with my boyfriend, was I fantasising about women?” said Lady Gaga.
When pushed on the issue Lady Gaga squirmed in her seat and replied; “Um, uh… well I… my goodness! I have certainly had sexual relationships with women, yes. I do like women. I’ve only been in love with men – I’ve never been in love with a woman”
Lady Gaga will be performing two shows at the resort’s Pearl Concert Theater on Thursday, Dec. 17 and Friday, Dec. 18.
