World's
best poker player Jean-Robert Bellande made a name for himself
in the poker arena at the World Series of Poker (WSOP)
circuit event in 2005. The championship took place at Rio Las Vegas
and he competed in the $10,000 No Limit Hold'Em event. In this
tournament, he came in 3rd place and earned attractive prize winnings
in the amount of $210,900.
In
2006, Jean-Robert made a cash finish in 2006, at the WSOP No Limit
Hold'Em event. In this event, he earned prize winnings in the sum of
$14,617.
Jean-Robert
Bellande achieved another cash finish at the 2008 WSOP No
Limit Hold'Em event winning $10,712, before moving on make to
additional winnings in the same series at different events. He
entered the WSOP No limit Texas Hold'Em event with a $10,000
buy-in also in 2008 and then made another cash finish at which he
earned prize winnings in the sum of $27,020. Although he had already
made two cash finishes at WSOP in the same year, things were
about to get even better for Jean-Robert.
He
then participated successfully at the annual WSOP championship at the
Limit Hold'Em shootout with a $1,500 buy-in. He came very close to
the top spot in this event and finally finished in 2nd place, winning
the considerable sum of $173,564 as prize money. Best poker player
Jean-Robert Bellande also competed in the 2009 WSOP Limit
Hold'Em Shootout event. Although his efforts did not prove to be
as successful as during the previous year, he did manage a cash
finish and made winnings in the amount of $4,356.
Jean-Robert
received celebrity status for additional reasons and not just due to
his poker playing skills. Jean-Robert also became a celebrity
following his participation in a popular reality TV series. He
appeared on the CBS reality show "Survivor: China".
The series itself is popular on the international scene and is
featured in different places around the world in different languages
with local participants. However, 'Survivor' is not
Jean-Robert's only televised appearance as he has also played poker
and appeared on the popular poker show 'Poker After Dark'.
Jean-Robert
Bellande is also known by many as “Bobby”,
“Action-bob”, “JRB-usto” and is a celebrity from
different walks of life, not just from the poker world. Jean-Robert
obtained a bachelor's degree in marketing and he began his
professional life at promotion work at night clubs in LA. Following
this, he became a club owner when he opened up his own nightclub in
the name of Sky Sushi. Jean-Robert is more than 6 feet tall and he
makes his presence felt, not just due to his height, as he is known
as a vocal competitor with his loud banter at the poker tables.
Jean-Robert now lives in Las Vegas.
Jean-Robert
Bellande, who shot to fame with his appearance on the reality TV
show Survivor, has a following of over 4,500 people on Twitter, which
he constantly updates with info on his life, as well as his quest to
bring his poker bankroll to $1 million.
Well
apparently that quest has been derailed with one too many trips into
“Bobby’s Room”, and one of his recent Tweets read: “Cash 0
Stars 0 FTP 0 I feel sleepy.” Meaning, JRB has No live bankroll, No
Stars bankroll, and No Full Tilt bankroll.
Obviously
this is not the end of Jean-Robert’s poker career, but it certainly
doesn’t bode well for him finding a new sponsor – Bellande was
recently dumped by his long-time sponsor Bodog, along
with David Williams and Justin Bonomo.
