Right before the World Series of Poker gets underway is probably not the best time to lose the biggest name –and prettiest face—representing your online poker site, but that is precisely what happened when it was announced that the best poker player  Lacey Jones would be leaving Absolute Poker.

The 31 year old Texan born beauty is known as much for her stunning looks as she is for her poker skills and has been very much involved in promoting the poker industry since getting her first break as a hired model playing at an ESPN tournament in 2005.

As of writing, she still appears on the Absolute Poker website as a sponsored player, but it’s unclear precisely when the two will officially part company. Lacey Jones is known more for her hosting of poker shows and events, and is one of the better interviewers in all of poker. She also does numerous modeling, as well as being able to hold her own at the poker tables – although she enters very few events due to her hosting and interview duties.

The announcement that Lacey Jones is now to leave Absolute Poker just as the WSOP 2010 gets underway, came as quite a surprise as this is traditionally a time when players go forth and represent their sites and new players are recruited.

However, Absolute Poker were keen to point out that this was purely an “amicable” arrangement, and that they wished “Lacey only the best in her future endeavours and know that she will be successful in whatever she chooses.”

This would seem to ring true as Lacey Jones’ career continues to blossom, having recently signed a deal to become the spokeswoman of the Canadian Poker Tour (CPT), where she now takes part in the CPT sponsored tournament events and brings more than a touch of glamour to the proceedings.

A visit to the Absolute Poker home page still shows Lacey Jones listed as a member of Team AP. Along with fellow poker pro Matt “Plattsburgh” Vengrin and recent World Poker Tour (WPT) Invitational final table player Trishelle Cannatella, Lacy Jones’ profile is still on the site.

World's best poker player Lacey Jones was a part of a sponsorship group that, along with sister site and fellow CEREUS Network partner UB.com, included Tiffany Michelle, recent European Poker Tour (EPT) San Remo champion Liv Boeree, and many other notable poker players.

Lacey Jones also has a sponsorship deal in place with clothing company KSINO, as they said she encapsulated the company’s ethos of “playing great and looking hot while doing it.” Lacey Jones has been Tweeting about some new projects on the horizon, but hasn’t gone into any details about the venture(s), only saying: “Today is a new chapter of my life and I’ve never been more excited! Get ready for some BIG things everyone!”

Lacey Jones is known as much for her poker game as for her hosting abilities and looks. She was named the spokesperson for the Canadian Poker Tour earlier this year, signed a sponsorship deal with KSINO Clothing, and, most recently, was the floor announcer and hostess for the Full Tilt Poker Doubles Poker Championship, which will air on Fox Sports Net sometime in July. Lacey Jones’ departure from Absolute Poker makes her a very appealing commodity for another online poker site sponsorship deal.

Lacey Jones was dropped from the roster of Absolute Poker after the Unlawful Internet Gambling Enforcement Act (UIGEA) was enacted in 2006, but the twosome seemed to be on good terms last year. Absolute re-signed Lacey Jones to the sponsored players list last year around the end of the WSOP and, along with Jones’ poker skills and hosting abilities, was receiving good exposure from one of the classiest ladies in the poker table.

It will be interesting to see where Lacey Jones lands next, and if the signing will take place during the WSOP. One thing is for certain, Lacey Jones is definitely a hot commodity in the poker world.
