The End Of Lacey Jones At Absolute Poker

Right before the World Series of Poker gets underway is probably not the best time to lose the biggest name –and prettiest face—representing your online poker site, but that is precisely what happened when it was announced that the best poker player  Lacey Jones would be leaving Absolute Poker.

The 31 year old Texan born beauty is known as much for her stunning looks as she is for her poker skills and has been very much involved in promoting the poker industry since getting her first break as a hired model playing at an ESPN tournament in 2005.

As of writing, she still appears on the Absolute Poker website as a sponsored player, but it’s unclear precisely when the two will officially part company. Lacey Jones is known more for her hosting of poker shows and events, and is one of the better interviewers in all of poker. She also does numerous modeling, as well as being able to hold her own at the poker tables – although she enters very few events due to her hosting and interview duties.

Gavin Griffin: The Youngest WSOP Champ

The record Gavin Griffin set as the youngest bestpoker player ever to win a World Series of Poker bracelet, in all honesty, didn't last too long. Eric Froehlich broke it only a year later, Jeff Madsen broke it again a year after that, and the honor leapfrogged over to Steve Billiarkis in 2007.

However, last year, Gavin Griffin set another record that is proving much more difficult to shatter — he became the first and only player to win a WSOP bracelet, a World Poker Tour title and a European Poker Tour title, a distinction that would come to be known as poker's "Triple Crown".

Gavin Griffin instead enrolled at Texas Christian University and began studying to become a speech pathologist. At home for summer break after his freshman year, Gavin Griffin was invited to a friend's weekly $20 buy-in home game. Though the stakes were small, it was enough to put a dent in a starving student's budget.

Huckelberry “Huck” Seed

In today's media-friendly poker industry where fans are subjected to Daniel Negreanu's rambling monologues on his preference in breakfast granola and televised weekly cries of "No fair!" from Phil Hellmuth, it's refreshing to find a player who's willing to sit back, shut up and let his game speak for itself.

Huck - or Huckleberry - Seed is just such a player. By all accounts, the World Champion and top No-Limit Hold'em player is quiet and unassuming - but simultaneously lethal on the felt.

Earlier in life, however, the Montana native had designs on becoming an electrical engineer, and put his natural math proficiency to the test at the California Institute of Technology upon graduating from high school. But like many a gambler before him, Seed wouldn't last in the hallowed halls of academia.

Aria Resort And Casino Launches Phil Ivey Poker Room

It was likely an easy decision for the brass of the MGM Mirage hotel group to decide on creating an ultra-high-stakes table in the new Aria Poker Room, and equally as much of a no-brainer to name the new room after poker mega-star Phil Ivey.

Phil Ivey is considered one of the best all-around cash game players to ever sit at a poker table, and is also one of the most feared tournament players on earth. Having won 10’s of millions in poker as well as 7 WSOP bracelets, Ivey is likely to go down as one of, if not the, greatest poker player of all-time.

Following their successful model of Bobby’s Room at the Bellagio –another MGM Mirage Las Vegas property—the casino magnates have announced a huge tournament to launch the high-end poker room which will feature a single table. The tournament is by invite only and will feature a $1,000,000 prize-pool –put up by the casino—as well as a sizeable bounty on the room’s namesake, Phil Ivey.

Isildur1 Is Back After The Controversy

The online poker world has seen many poker players who arrive on the scene, play some big sessions, go broke and disappear into obscurity. Earlier this year, the previous resident mystery Swede “martonas” had a hot run before a big downswing led him to stop logging so much time on the tables. The skeptics out there may think Isildur1 is just another person in a long line of players who took a shot at the nosebleeds and walked away empty-handed.

Many within the poker community will tell you that even if Isildur1 were to never play another hand of poker, his presence at the tables during the fall and winter of 2009 changed online poker forever thanks to his record-setting moments and memorable sessions with virtually every major high stakes pro around.

Isildur1 was spotted at the Full Tilt poker tables this past week; far from his usual nosebleed stakes Isildur1 was playing $50/$100 and $100/$200 against Jungleman12 and URnotINdanger2. Despite playing far lower than usual, his mere presence at the Full Tilt Poker tables was enough to get the high-stakes rail-birds talking.
