Paul Wasicka, The 2006 WSOP Main Event second place finisher took first in the WSOP Circuit Tunica Championship Event Wednesday, banking $139,422 and a seat in this year’s Main Event. The $5,000 buy-in tournament attracted a total of 96 players consisting of mainly local pros and some big-name out-of-towners like poker player Paul Wasicka.



The fifth stop of the WSOPC 2009-2010 season at Harrah's Tunica in Tunica, Mississippi begins Jan. 20 with the first of 19 ring events. The tournament began on Monday with 96 players putting $5,000 on the line to take down a WSOP Circuit Championship, a diamond and gold ring and, perhaps more importantly, their buy-in for the 2010 WSOP Main Event. He eventually built up more than a 5-1 chip lead before Gurney shoved with pocket fours on a 9 of Hearts, 8 of Spades and 6 of Clubs flop. Wasicka called with 9 of Diamonds, 8of Diamonds for top two and the title was his.
